Can't install Norton 360 using CD. Administrative privileges problems. Please help!

Hello all,

I recently purchased Norton 360 5.0 on CD. I'm running Windows 7.

After I put the disk in the drive I get a Norton window with afew options including Install Norton 360. I click to install and get an error message telling me

"This process requires administrative priveleges. Please accept the User Access prompt. Or, if needed, enter your administrator credentials."

I click OK and the message disappears and nothing happens. I am using the only Admin account on the computer. Does anyone know what I have to do to get it working?

Any help appreciated, thank you.

Hi Claremkelly87,

Welcome to the Norton Community..!!!!!!!!

To make sure that you are in the administrative login - check with your Windows user accounts by go through this --> Start Menu --> Control Panel --> User Accounts and Family Safety --> User Accounts. Make sure that you are logged into the Administrator Account.

Still If you got the same error message - Try to download the Norton 360 Version 5.0 directly from the Norton Website - Go to this link - www.norton.com/n360s_5

It will give you a trial version of Norton 360, use your product key to activate under your account.

Let me know, If you have any issues....!!!!

Hello claire

If you are running any other real time security program, you will have to remove that first using the control panel method and then the removal tool from the other product.. If this is the case, please let us know so that we can assist you with this. Thanks.

Windows is notoriously bad about the elevated user account window popup being slow and poping up behind the current user window.  Wait a few seconds and look at the taskbar at the bottom of the screen for a flashing, highlighted icon the click on it.

If you are not running an Administrator account, then you can right click on the executable file (might also be autorun) on the CD and select run as administrator and then enter the administrator password.
