Cant Launch Norton360 & Cant connect to my wireless system

The other night my laptop shut down unexpectedly, came back and said I needed to update Norton. It did that and gave me a new product key to use for next 179 days. THEN all of a sudden, I can't even launch (even in safe mode)Norton AND I can't get internet access through my wireless system . (Wireless system is fine, I am on it now with a desktop right next to laptop). Laptop shows strong signal and "connected". I am running Norton 360 V2 with Vista.

Please help. I have the CD to reinstall but it won't let me do that until I uninstall the old one. And when I try to Uninstall it, it gives me a message that it cannot find path. Obviously I cant connect and download that Norton utility suggested in other posts to uninstall it.

Thanks. I have spent 3 days (including waiting on hold for 4 hours with Norton only to hang up)on this and I am getting frustrated.

Thank you. I will try that and let you know. Would you recommend after I use Norton Removal tool that I install Norton 2.0 from my disk and then upgrade online or download 3.0 directly from online? Also how does my connectivity problem get solved? Assuming a virus has reset something and needs to be remedied.

You can just download and install v3 directly

Had similar problem when I lost my Norton Icon and could not open it from desktop..

The following worked for me :--..

Opened Windows Explorer and clicked 'Computer'..

Clicked on my main drive , normally C:  ..

Then go -- 'Program Files  --  Norton 360 (Std or Premier, whichever you've got)  --  Engine  --  3.5.2.11 ( or whatever is there)..

Scroll down to near bottom, and double click  'uiStub '  or  'uiStub.exe'   ..

If you get an UAC popup,  click yes ..

After a few minutes,  and if nothing is seeming to happen, or when cursor goes back to normal,  Restart your Computer. .

After restart, I got Norton Icon back on Taskbar and it worked again..

Certainly saved reinstalling..

Don't know if this will work for you..

PS,  Sometimes if I lose internet connection, I have to switch my router Off and ON again.

Also how does my connectivity problem get solved? Assuming a virus has reset something and needs to be remedied. I can't download 3.0 without solving the connectivity problem. Thanks again. Feel like we are making progress!

Try the steps in this knowledge base article.  Warning:  It seems to take a long time to load so be patient with it.  Follow the steps to see if it helps.

Try boneidle's suggestion to see if Norton can be started.

Also, have you rebooted the machine a couple of times since the update to see if the engines can be properly changed over?

If you can get Norton up and working, you can disable the firewall to see if you can get connectivity back.  First things first.

If you can run the removal tool as suggested as well, and reinstall the new version from a thumb drive, then again you can work on connectivity matters.

You can download the Norton Removal Tool on any other computer which has connectivity and then transfer it to your computer using a USB. Once you remove the Norton product, check whether you can access Internet.

Vineeth--

Thanks. It worked! You have been very helpful. For anyone else who has this "duel" problem of Norton 360 not launching/working and not able to connect to the internet, follow the advice given above and BOTH problems will be solved.

It does bother me that some virus was able to infect my computer and disable Norton though.

Sorry, I mean follow the suggestions of Yogesh way above and it will solve your problem. Thank you Yogesh!
