I recently got a new computer and copied all of my data over, including my Thunderbird e-mail files. I have e-mail for about 6 different accounts going back about 8 years in Thunderbird. I previously used McAffe AV, which never identified any issue with these e-mails.
I'm using Norton Internet Security and when it did it's first monthly scan on my computer it brought up lots of attachments in virtually every Inbox and Junk file in the Thunderbird Profiles folder.
It's essentially impossible to identify the offending e-mails given in the information that Norton provides, so the solution I've found on this forum and other places is to exclude the files from Norton's e-mail scans.
The problem I'm having is that I have done that, but Norton still keeps poping up a message every few minutes telling me that it has found threats and it wants me to choose to delete the entire Inbox files, which is the only option other than ignoring it and closing the window, but then it just pops right back up again a few minutes later.
I've put in the paths to ignore in both the 'Items to exclude from scans" and "Items to exclude from Auto-Protect SONAR, etc." configurations, so I'm not sure what else I can do at this point. I also disabled just about every feature of Norton, and the messages still kept poping up, even when I had SONAR and Anti-virus turned off! I have also re-booted several times.
If I can't get this resolved I'll have to uninstall Norton, because it's making my computer unusable at this point, which is unfortunate, because I like it other than this issue.
