My Norton 360 works good on my HP laptop, but on this laptop(Toshiba) I have installed and re-installed several times and this program will not open. The only message I have gotten is that the LiveUpdate fails everytime. Any help with this problem would be much appreciated.
Hi,
can you please tell us the exact version of your Norton product you tried to install?
1. Please go to the C:\Program Files\Norton 360\Engine (on 64-bit OS: C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton 360\Engine) folder
2. In that folder there should be an other one that would indicate us which version do you have (it should look like this one: 20.1.1.2)
Thanks!

Do you have Tortoise SVN software on your computer? There is a known issue that is addressed by updating Tortoise.
What operating system and service pack is on the problem computer?
I will be watching thsi post as my now year old toshiba win 7 64x wouldnt run norton trial or comcast norton from new, it wouldnt open or would jam up ie8. I got so befuddled i finally gave up after several clean uninstalls of norton and gave up. Im convinced its a conflict w/ something toshiba I just dont know what. I dont run what the prev reply asked. Anyway will watch post.

You should check to see if there was any other secutity software installed, including any trials. You need to fully remove those with the removal utility from that company.
A list of companies removal tools can be found here http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN146
Then try to install a norton product.
Thank you, this lapatop was boxed brand new with norton and ran like nails. ( I updated norton with restarts in between till it said no more and made my start up very light too).
It has run like that from day one with norton. But when I finally gave up and used nrt several times and cc leaner to remove it all . I loaded mse and comodo firewall it runs fine.
It bugs me. Now the newest norton has a patch Im considering trying it again but doing the thorough removal of mse and comodo will be a pia especially if norton still hates toshiba.
thanks for input I do appreciate it.
The main issue seemed to be around ie9, which the newest norton plays nicer with so I may try it not sure. But then again why rock my boat.

You note Norton Trial and Comcast Norton. When you download the Norton Removal Tool, you need to get 2 versions. One for the Comcast (Purchased from Service provider), and one for the Norton Trial.
The two programs are similar, but there is enough difference that Norton provides the 2 versions of the removal tool.
When you are ready to go back to Norton, run the removal tools for what you have installed now. Then reboot, and run the Norton removal tool for Comcast. Reboot again, then run the Norton tool for 360. Reboot and then you can install Norton again.
Let us know how you get on.

Make sure you have run LiveUpdate manually a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available.
Also Try clicking on Support - Get Support to run Autofix to check your installation and fix what it finds.
What operating system and service pack are you using.

I cannot tell from your reply if you ran Autofix.
