Hi,
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Norton was working OK until this morning when I noticed that the Norton Icon was not in the bottom right of the task bar.
When I try to open it manually, I get the folloowing error message.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Internet Security\Engine6419.5.0.145\uistub.exe
Unspecified error"
I am not sure what is best but suspect I need to remove and reinstall Norton.
Grateful for any advice.
Thanks.
Hi spock999:
Welcome to the norton Community Forums!
See if a reboot resolves the issue, if not proceed below...
Download the Norton Removal Tool located here and save it to your Desktop.
Next, download NIS 2012 from here and save that on your Desktop as well.
Export all Identity Safe Data (if any) and make a note of your Product Key - you will need it for the reinstall.
Then run the NRT and reboot. Afterwards, run the NIS 2012 Installer Package.
Run Live Update until all updates are exhausted. A reboot or two might be required.
Please verify that you have NIS 19.5 at that point (check under Support -> About) If not, please run Live Update again.
Check all functionality. Let us know if the above corrects your issue.
Thanks,

Thank you.
That seems to have solved the problem
Hi spock999:
Glad to see that you are up and running!
I would just like to understand why these things happen.
Gremlins?

@Spock999, just curious what did you actually do to fix the problem? Did you re-install Norton or simply restarted your PC?
