Can't renew my subscription

Hello,

 

I just bought a new box of Norton Internet Security 2012 and would like to renew my subscription. When I click on "Renew", then "I have a key or code to enter", I get the message: "We are unable to proceed with the current task. Please try again later." I also tried the "Renew me subscription" button but then it says to check my internet connection, proxies and firewall. I turned off Smart Firewall but still without any luck, and I am connected via cable internet. Is there a problem with the renewal process? Can anyone please help me with this.

There was a server problem earlier in the week.  One of the admins posted the following:

 

If you find any problems with your renewal, please contact norton support at http://www.norton.com/chat and they will solve the problem

I went to the chat site you gave me and while I was waiting for someone to connect with me, I think my NIS expired and all my protections were turned off. Then I got a Renew link and it worked fine that way. I'm not sure if if was because I was waiting for a chat and got help without knowing it or if it's because NIS had to expire to renew (first time for me this way). Anyway, I have a 366 days left now so thanks for your help!
