If you have taken a backup of your hard disk using Norton Save and restore and then you restore it later, It will have the same products or programs whatever you were using before backup. So Norton Internet Security also will be there and it will be functioning in the same it was working beofre. Then the identity safe also will be working .(This is what I think ,to be frank I do not have that much idea about the Norton save and restore).

Tell me whether you have taken a backup of your entire hard disk or some files. Also please search in your in harddisk for *.npm files and tell me the results.

If you have taken just a backup of a few files,I do not think you will be able to restore the identtity safe profiles as the npm files are encrypted ones.

Thank you for the response.

I backed up all of my files however I did not restore Norton Interent Security with my backup.

i opted to reload NIS with the application disk and then hopefully restore the Security Safe files from Norton Save and Restore.

So, what I will do is completely restore NIS from S&R.

Youe second point , NPM files. It seems these ( or this ) file is generated when your backup the Identify Safe through the NIS application under Identity Safe. Backing up with Norton S&R does not generate an *.NPM file.

I read that under this forum.

Thanks

I restored the exact files from my Norton S&R list. One problem, i can't launch NIS !

So how do i do that ?

You can run the autofix tool from the link given below,

autofix

If the OS is vista, then you need to perform the steps given in the document.

Thx for the suggestion but it is an absolute nightmare. I started with a  simple issue now i have a time consuming problem.

I am as mad as a hornet right now.

I just can't imagine I cannot rely on a Norton product to back up Norton files. It is a crime!

There is no disclaimer , no notice, no advisory and worst of all no answers.

my business has been down for 2 days for this crap.

I know it is not your fault. I do appreciate the suggestion but i will never buy products from Symantec again ... unless ...

I get a solution no later than Monday my time ( USA PST).
