I'm using MS Outlook 2013 with Norton on my MacBook Pro. I can recieve email but I can't send frm Outlook. I think this has something to do with Norton's virus scanner integration - I'm open to suggestions here. When I search online, I'm told to disable the add-ins for the virus scanner integration although I don't have that option in Outlook's software in the 2013 version. Help please?
There's no direct integration of NAV Mac with Outlook (or other mail clients). You could try disabling Automatic Protection in NAV and see if that makes any difference, but I haven't heard of such a conflict. Are you using NAV or NIS, and which version (and version of OS X)?
I'm using NIS. Operating system is OSX 10.8.3. Thanks for the reply.
Thanks for the response.
Though we are not sure about the version of NIS that is installed in your machine, could you please "Turn Off" Connection Blocking and Application Blocking features in Norton Firewall, apart from turning off Automatic protection in NAV as suggested by Lee and then try sending mails.
If you are still encountering any problem, we doubt if this conflict might indeed be related to NIS. Could you please confirm the same?
Thanks. Application blocking was already off. I turned off connection blocking and tried sending email again but no luck - I still can't send in MS Outlook. I can send email from my MAC Mail application though so perhaps it's not Norton after all?
Hi,
Thank you for your response and confirmation.
In case if the mails are sent using MAC Mail application and NOT using Outlook, as you mentioned, I too guess this is NOT a problem with NIS.
Can you please check your Outlook 2013 settings? I also see lots of posts in the internet with respect to mails not sent in Outlook 2013. Request you to check those also.
Thanks
Rajesh
Thanks. Outlook settings look Ok - I've been using Outlook for a long time and only recently moved to a MAC so I'am pretty comfortable setting up email in Outlook. I've read the same discussions online about problems with Outlook 2013 and NIS was one of the potential culprits. MS products can be a pain to work with but I'm guessing that it's an Outlook problem of some sort to be figured out.
If you've disabled all the NIS automatic protection features, that would seem to vindicate it. The only other thing you could do to verify NIS is not involved would be to uninstall it completely (temporarily). But I would guess from the symptoms it's probably something in the outgoing server settings for your mail account.
Just in case it is a related problem in Outlook try turning off the Norton AntiSpam add-in. On my Windows 7 machine I was having serious problems and after hours of online chat support and self experimentation I found Norton AntiSpam does not work with Outlook 2013 - see page below
As noted earlier, there are no Outlook add-ins for Norton Mac products.
Oh - in Norton for Mac in settings under network is there a message protection option with settings such as AntiSpam and Client Integration? If so it might be worth trying to turn off AntiSpam (Office has it's own anyway).
Hi
I have recently had problems sending emails from my Outlook. I Spent a lot of time looking trough forums for answers and help to get it sorted but never found any useful information. I came across this site http://www.emaileverywhere.co.uk/cant_send_email_outlook.html. For me it was very helpful and my email problems are now sorted.
Hope this is of help.
Thanks Haily :)
