Can't start Norton internet security

After installing internet security and double clicking the desktop icon does not start program + no icon on the tray bar -(using win 7 ultimate sp1) - received no error messages, tried several times to uninstall/install without success windows antivirus warning Disappeared , please help  - tried the install CD + download from the internet

Have a look at Control Panel > Programs & Features and see if NIS is listed as being installed.
