Can't start or update Ghost 9.0

Upon booting my WinXP PC, the yellow icon in the bottom right hand system tray displayed an error message stating that it could not connect to the services. 

 

I went to Services in control panel and attempted to manually start the service. Error message: "Windows could not start the Norton Ghost on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code -2147467262". I couldn't find any useful info in the event logs.

 

I tried to reinstall from the CD.  Received error: "The wizard was interrupted before Norton Ghost 9.0 could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again."

 

I tried to uninstall from Control Panel - Add Remove programs. Received error: "Fatal error during installation."

 

I tried running Live Update. Received error: LiveUpdate could not access its settings. You may have another instance of Live Update running. You can only have one instance of Live Update running at a time.

 

Any other thoughts on how to get Ghost 9.0 running again?
