Since the 21.1 update, I am no longer able to test my computer on the full tests at PC Pitstop. Is there a way to whitelist their website so I can test again?
I never had trouble before the update–I always run the free overdrive tests with IE running as administrator. Since the latest Norton IS update, it seems like something is being blocked because it never loads like it used to…
I'm surprised you haven't gotten more responses. The ads they put on TV make some VERY questionable claims. There are a good number of folks who say the software totally messed up their computers. (Google) The glowing reviews also seem a little over the top. Doesn't your ISP have kind of software to check your computer?
Oh NOW I get it. No, I don’t have their software installed. They have free online tests that test your video card performance, hard drive speed, memory test, driver updates, software updates available, etc. using ActiveX in Internet Explorer. I think you’re referring to those scam commercials that run on ESPN all the time for downloadable software that’s supposed to fix your computer problems. Different company. PC Pitstop full tests have been around for many years. They do make software that basically does the same thing as CCleaner, but I’ve never purchased or used it.
imaref, it's possible that it's a false positive. I checked Sucuri Site Check, and of course PCPitstop comes up clean. You could submit it to Symantec for further analysis, at the link below. I'd also suggest bringing your Live Update definitions up to date, maybe re-boot, and see if there's still a problem accessing the site. Fwiw, I can access the site, and Norton flags it, as ok.
