Can't uninstall Safety minder on android phone

I'm trying to uninstall Safety Minder from my son's android phone.

Belatedly I have found the instructions about deactivating the 'device administrator'.

On the phone when I do the following:

Settings > Security > Select Device administors > tap the program name > Deactivate > type in login and password...

... I get the message:

'Unable to connect to the Norton Online family server at this time. Please try again later'

I have 'tried again later' a number of times over a period of 18 hours and get the same message each time.

I wonder whether my issue is related to the fact that, before I found the instructions about deactivating the device administrator, I had already logged into my 'Norton Family' account (via my Pc) and I had removed the mobile device name in the 'Settings'.

Getting quite frustrated. Please help.

Come on Symanantic employees offer me some help here.

Is my problem related to having already removed the device name from my Norton Family account... if it is there must be a way round the problem.

Or is this related to the what appears to be a much bigger problem of the mobile just not being able to connect to the Norton Online Family server?

Did you get a reply?

I have 2 Motorola Defy phones, both running Android 2.2.2.

One works fine and has done for a while.

The other I had to reset and reinstall the app but now gets the cannot connect at this time message.

I've tried removing the app and rebooting but still can't get it to log in.

Can't see why they are different but I too deleted the profile of my child as I thought it would duplicate.

Can't log in at all now and am going to have to wrap these phones up as presents soon!

Hi,

Please try to disconnect the internet connection on the phone first, then try to uninstall Norton Family from the device to see if that helps.

Thanks,

Katie

Thanks for the suggestion Kate but no joy.

Still getting the error message.
