Can't uninstall to reinstall after deleting computer from profile

The Safety Minder on my daughter's computer hasn't been logging anything for more than a week. I decided to uninstall and reinstall to get things going again. Before doing so I deleted her computer from her profile so I could enter the same computer name when reinstalling. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but I cannot uninstall the Safety Minder at all and so cannot reinstall. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Katie,

 

Once I sign in my email and password it just goes into perpetual load mode. If I click again, I get a message from Microsoft Windows that Norton Safety Minder is not responding. I then have the option to either close the program or wait for it to respond. I end up closing the program because it never responds. I also downloaded the Norton Removal Tool but that also goes nowhere. An extraction notation flashes briefly and then nothing happens. My daughter's computer has been without the Minder for a few weeks now and I'd really like to get it up and running again ASAP. Anyt help you can give would be appreciated. Thanks!

I assume you are not able to log onto your Norton Online Family account at https://onlinefamily.norton.com/familysafety/loginStart.fs

 

Have you got a chance to uninstall/reinstall Norton Safety Minder on the child's PC?

Yes, I can log on to my account at Online Family Norton. I have my other children's computers using ofn as well, so there is no problem accessing the site. Though my dd's account is still there, she was flagged as not protected, and her computer is no longer listed, which makes sense since I deleted it ( in order to re-list it with the same computer name). 

 

No, I have not been able to uninstall/reinstall Norton Safety Minder on my dd's computer. Nothing has changed from what I wrote earlier. I would like to know how to resolve the inability to uninstall the Safety Minder so that I might reinstall it, re-list my dd's computer, and return that computer to a protected state. Please advise as to how to proceed. Thanks!

Well, ugh! I successfully followed your directions but still cannot get an install of Norton Safety Minder. When I tried to make a fresh install of NSM I got as far as "Preparing to Uninstall. Please wait..." and continued to wait perpetually. What shall I try now? I have not rebooted the machine yet as my dd is in the middle of a project. Would this make a difference?

Please reboot your PC.  Rebooting the PC should help you resolve the issue after following the instructions.
