Regularly, sometimes once daily, the program ccSvcHst.exe takes up 99% of the CPU usage for about 20 minutes of time, then it returns to very low usage of about 0%. During the time of 99% CPU usage the computer can not be used very well for any other purpose.
I am using a Dell with Intel P-4 at 3 GHz, 2 GB Ram, Win XP Pro SP3, NAV 2009 Version 16.8.0.41 and Norton System Works std 2009 V 12.0.1.
I always run NAV and automatically scan during idle times and do full system scans weekly. I've run live update often.
This issue began after I upgraded to NAV and System works 2009 last year.
Does anybody have any ideas? I have read the internet and the Symantec Community forum on this topic and can not get a good idea of what is going on. I may have the wrong idea, but so far the only solution I can figure from my reading is to completely remove all Norton products and reinstall. A Symantec tech did that last year when I upgraded to 2009 and that is when this problem began. I've been living with it for a year plus now but need to get it resolved.
Thanks
