Since upgrading from NIS2009 to NIS2010 (build 17.0.0.136) my two WinXP based systems consistently produce the following error message during system shutdown:
“ccSvcHst.exe - Application error. The instruction at <memory location> referenced memory at <memory location>. The memory could not be read."
Both WinXP systems are XP Pro SP3 with all current MS patches applied.
The procedure I used to perform the upgrade on these systems was as follows:
- Uninstall NIS2009 using the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs.
- Do a prior product version cleanup using the current Norton Product Removal Tool.
- Install the NIS10UPEN.exe package from the website.
I’ve been able to solve the problem by reverting to NIS2009, but I’d prefer not to do that if at all avoidable.
