I had Norton System Works installed, and uninstalled it and installed NIS2009 a few days ago.
I did a full system scan and it found (as expected) some viruses in downloaded programs that were suspect and had never been installed. They were all removed.
It was ok at first then started giving
ccSvcHst.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x78144500" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
and shutting itself off,so I had no protection
At the same time I found that Google Earth would not start correctly, just gave a black screen and menu, and no Earth. Also a custom application I developed would start and hang and could not be remvoed with ctrl+alt+del
I used Norton Removal to delete all - after which Google Earth was ok and also my program
Reinstalled NIS (a fresh copy I bought online from Symantec a week ago) and all seemed fine for a day. Now I got ccSvcHst.exe - Application Error again, and had to restart NIS, second time I got the error - NIS will not restart
WIndows XP home SP3
NIS was installed this week on 2 other machines with no problems - but this machine is heavily loaded with software and applcations.
