I have Norton Systemworks 2009 version 12.0.1 Build 1installed on my pc running Windows XP Pro. I also have Norton Antivirus version 16.8.0.41 with 193 days remaining on my current subscription. I contacted customer service on August 19, because I was fed up with the continual CPU usage going to 100 percent and not being able to do anything on my computer because it took forever to screens to launch or advance to the next page within an application. This has been an ongoing problem since my last renewal failed and I had to have someone from Symantec complete the renewal installation online.
Long story short, when I am having this slow down and CPU usage goes to 100 %; the exe file ccSvchst.exe is showing very high usage numbers. This occurrence can happen at any time during my time on the pc.
I was told by the individual that since I only had 256k of RAM that was my problem. Sorry, but I don’t really buy that solution since I didn’t have this problem before this last renewal. I have also checked Google and have found many issues surrounding the ccSvchst.exe using up the system resources. In checking your forum I also have found several but didn’t see one with my specific software involved.
I have recently purchased a new Dell Inspiron laptop with McAfee free for 30 days. I will also be purchasing myself a new Dell laptop in the near future and I need to get to the bottom of this CPU usage issue. I have been a Symantec customer for a long time and we have our current three PC (one being my older Dell laptop protected by Norton software but I can go with McAfee on all of our PC’s if a resolution can not be found soon.
What additional information will you need to help resolve this issue.
