Ccsvchst.exe has millions of page faults - malware, memory, or what?

I have been trying to troubleshoot some problems that I've noticed on my computer.   Here is one of them:

ccSvcHst.exe has been aggravating.  The computer will become completely unusable if we stay online because this application keeps growing and the page faults are astronomical.  I did some checking and it appears page faults are related to memory or more specifically RAM.  While we don't have a lot of RAM (1.12 GB) on this computer,  it seems odd that I would still experience page faults if I have no programs running and only have one browser open.

In task manager it looks like this right now:

Image Name    User Name    Memory Usage   Page Faults      VM Size       Threads   I/O Reads        I/O Writes

ccSvcHst.exe    System             5844k                   37,409,999+    235,952k     79             28,169,301     5,309,595

ccSvcHst.exe    myusername   4556k                    4,416,848       29,240k       49               6,975                 579

CPU % on the system ccsvchst has been 0% but the memory has gone up and down from 4-21K and the page faults, etc. keep increasing.  My user account shows CPU usage of around 3%.

Similar to other posts, we've get the error message stating ccsvchst is not responding when we shutdown.  I don't know if it's related or not, but Norton's tray icon disappears and Norton did not load on start up the last time I rebooted.

Is this a memory or computer problem? or malware?

Thanks,

LLee
