This link points to a post that has been removed.
Anybody have a solution to this? I shut down my laptop at night and find it still running in the morning, stuck on this error.
Hi calemery
Can you try the work arounds suggested here and let us know if it fixes the problem, thanks.
PS This should also speed up your overall shut down time.

Thanks. I did find those after I left this message. I've implemented all 3 steps and am hoping for the best.
Tho I don't think using Norton software should be this complex, or finding solutions to problems this circuitous. You'd think this bug would have been caught and fixed in beta, and the solution would not involve telling my PC to "igonore Norton 360 and it's stupid error messages".
The problem exist on every home computer and work PC I have loaded Norton 360 2.0 on and rather than put the fix in an update to the program for an auto fix to all the users, you need to go her and download the fix, which by the way works for Norton products other than 360 that have the same program end/hang problem. I just hope they don’t remove the link. http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080401070935EN&ln=en_US DOCID: 20080401070935EN Product: Norton 360 2.0,Norton 360 2.0 OEM,Norton 360 2.0 Online Operating System: Windows Vista,Windows XP Last modified: 08/16/2008 It’s is a very quick and easy fix from this Norton “Fix Tool”.
johna asked how I fared following the 3 steps shown in a link in his message. It worked, in that I can shut down without an error. It failed, in that I now find many programs failing to shut down when I close them. Microsoft Access is one. I find a process still running for each instance of an opened and closed Access database. Needless to say, this causes problems for many programs which do not expect to find multiple copies of themselves running. So 2 questions:
1. Should I run the tool from the link on BruceGlenn's post? What does it do? Does it patch Norton or run some or all of the steps I went through?
2. What settings can I restore to get my programs to shut down properly?

Hi calemery
1. As far as running the tool goes, all it will do is reproduce the change made by following step 1 in the workaround you used.
2. If you restore all of the settings except number 1, it shouldn't make any difference to the issue you are facing, as those workarounds only relate to shutdown times in relation to turning off your computer, but go ahead and undo them (except number 1) and see if it makes a difference, I would be interested to know.

Hi Johna
This is the same work arounds I used with the "Not responding" issue with NIS 2009, so does that mean the download fix,
work with 2009 products?? If it only changes the registry values within Windows and doesn't actually change the product (NIS, NAV 2009) then hmmm yes ??
Thanks
Quads
Hi Quads
I'm running NIS09 on this system, and reversed the workaround to see if the tool would fix the Auto End Tasks issue, but it didn't work. So, I'm assuming from this you have to use the manual workaround if using certain other Norton products.

Hi Johna
Just I had another person having the the hang on shut down problem and was confortable to manually change the registry.
Oh Well.
Will try and think.

BruceGlenn, your link that had the quick fix tool was perfect. After loading Norton 360, I also had the problem of "ccSvcHst program not responding". I read some of the other suggestions but not confident I could do the changes they suggested. Read your comment,
went to the link you provided, did restart of computer and presto - my computer shuts down like it should and it seems even faster. Thanks for taking the time to share your info.
Thank your BruceGlenn for the autofix link. This solution worked for powering down my xp computers (2) and also for properly exiting programs. Previously had filemaker and dreamweaver task manager processes continuing after exiting programs. Checked both and this fix permits proper program exits. Thanks.

Would anyone happen to know if after you install this "fix" and have a problem is it reversable?
