Woke up this morning to find my computer loud (fans) and active (CPU utilization) and it seems to be related to the latest NIS 2011 update that occurred early this morning. ccSVCHst is stuck at 50% CPU utilization and it won't drop. No apparent scans going on. Is this ANOTHER ccSvcHst problem that I have read so much about?!

I'm already running NIS 2011. Have been for about a month w/o problems. The problem seems to have just started with the lastest update. Are you suggesting I essentially re-install the same NIS 2011? ...Don't you think that the eventual download of the recent update will get me back to the same ccSvcHst problem?
Does the high CPU usage return after a reboot?
Does it drop or go down eventually? What I can think of is that Norton is performing background tasks or compiling the Norton community watch list (it won't show up in the Norton task list. You would have to check history for any new "pending" items in Norton community watch.)
Haven't tried a reboot, BUT will when I return home later today.
Yes, I guess NIS could have been peforming some background task that didn't appear in the process list (???). Again I will assess the situation later today. Hopefully when I get home, thing swill be back to normal.
Thanks for the responses to this issue.
PS. I upgraded to NIS 2010 to solve TrueCrypt crashing-on-dismount problems. I was very happy to see that has seemed to be resolved. ...but now this! I hope you are right about NIS performing a background task. I'm so tired of solving one problem, then moving on to a "new and improved" problem!!! Never-ending.
Again, thanks for the replies.
This may not apply to you but Im wondering do you ever fully turn off the pc? Im thinking it would do a reset of sorts and a cool down. I have to stay on top of cleaning dust out of my tower or mine acts up too.
Back to the others, just wanted to add that. :)
