I have had Norton AV or a suite running on laptop for several years. About a year ago while using AV 2009 or 2010 I noted that boots were taking very long. The usual 1-2 minutes increased to 3 to 30 minutes during which time the CPU light burned steady and the rest of the startup couldn't complete. During shut down, I've also noticed that the process doesn't shut down on its own. The system gives a non responding message followed y a shutdown screen prior to exiting. This seems to take about an extra minute.
The problem continued when I recently upgraded to NIS and NU15. I ran all performance methods and defraged, and short and full scans. I recently detected what process was active and running during startup using the Control Panel. All installations followed Norton instructions. How can I eliminate the problem?
