Change in computer owner

I bought my computer a few years ago from someone else.

 

I'm assuming because their Norton account user id and password were saved, I have been able to renew my product and have the payment information sent to my email address. However, I cannot access the account through "My account" because I don't know their password.

 

If I open an account under my name for the same computer, I don't know how this will affect the billing information under the old user name, which I need for past payments as well as for the renewal process.

 

I have the product ID number and the key number because I paid for the renewals.

 

What is the best course of action?
