PMJI but IE7 and IE8 have a Reset button! You can use it to turn all personalized settings back to the initial defaults and disables add-ons:
On the Menu Bar -- if you don't see it press the ALT key on your keyboard and it will appear temporarily:
Tools / Internet Options / Advanced TAB and down at the bottom is the Reset button
You may want to use the link there to the explanation of what it does before you use it. Time and again I've seen it solve problems that users were having with IE not working properly.
I expect you know about the Tools / Manage Add-ons control? This also is userful in disabling / enabling add-ons as well as seeing what there are.
I can't tell you if it will help or not with your situation -- others here know more than I do.
Hi! I looked over your HiJackThis log and it looks clean except for this line:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB} - (no file)
You may want to check this line and delete it in HiJackThis. Other than that I don't see any other concerns.
As to the Java questions you have asked, if there are still some quirks or problems with it the best solution is to fully delete Java and then install the latest version. You can find details at this Link . I hope this helps.

Would this be associated with the Java (Not Verified) Sun Microsystems, Inc. Toolbar?
This is a "feature" of recent Java versions that prefetches some things that Java likes to keep handy, so that if you need to run Java you do not waste precious seconds waiting for it to load. There is an explanation here along with instructions for disabling JQS.

Hello huwyngr, dbrisendine, SendOfJive, Stu, Mo,
1. I did search on Microsoft's website on the blank BHO {5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB}. This is apparently a multi-lingual part of the trial Office download that came with this computer which expires today.
2.As for my Java queries, I did check out the links and, well, you learn something new everyday. I did check Java site prior to my posting my query, but I, apparently, just did not know exactly where to look.
So thank you all for your help.
What is PMJI? Just curious.
Pardon My Jumping In
I usually don't just try to throw in posts unless I see the direction of the thread needs some correction or I can help clearify the point.
Thanks for the info dbrisendine
. Learn something new everyday.
I will try the reset button on IE8. Apparently a music download program was installed on my computer without my knowledge even though I expressed that I do not want any free music downloads on my computer at all!
So thank you all for your help.
