Circular Windows update (update trying to install over and over)

I got 3 updates that are giving problems:

  • KB2760411
  • KB2760588
  • KB2760583

They are trying to be install over and over again.

I've installed the updates but when I click "check for updates," there they appear again.

Let's just hope Microsoft fixes this.

Same thing here.

I've just right clicked them and chose Hide update for now until a fix is released.

FWIW
I too experienced this.

I got these Office 2007 updates offered today even though my Office is 2002 .... I've skipped them and will probably hide them when I get annoyed.

IMF I think I downloaded these but I don’t have office 2007 I have 2003. Will that cause a problem for my system? Should I uninstall them?

My error have 2007

Hi Hugh

In the previous post you mention you have Office 2002, but do you have the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack with SP3 installed (which is required for editing/viewing docx / xlsx / pptx files)?

If so this is why you're offered with these security updates. The compatibility pack has the same security updates as the full Office 2007 suites.

That could be so -- I"m pretty sure I have the Excel one ..... in which case it would be good if MS altered the KB text! And what the Windows Update on screen note says!

One more faulty MS update: KB2589275 (Office 2010 Update) Issue: this update breaks file extensions.

I just went to restore the hidden updates but there were no updates to restore.  I don't know what that means, have they installed properly?

That's what heppened to me and what I assumed ... In fact I knew they had installed OK because they were listed as such in the Update History even when the repeated listings were happening. That was the bug they fixed and the fix must have taken out the entries even when hidden.

Thanks Hugh!

My history shows they installed successfully too, so I won't worry about it.

Cheers.
