I suddenly find today computer has a desktop icon "ClearBar" and a titlebar type strip along the desktop screen showing what appear to be bookmarks or somesuch. I also find in File Manager and in Apps listing in the settings, not only an entry for ClearBar, but another for ClearBrowser.
I am guessing these are infections, and a quick scan with Norton Security shows no infection. Does anybody know anything about these? I tried an internet search and found, basically, nothing, except a couple articles how to uninstall "ClearBar".
I do not know who visited what site in order to let these two items get onto the computer (Windows 10). Norton Security is up-to-date. How can I check this or these further? Full Scan with Norton? What else? So far I find (it's been less than a day) no malfunctionings of the machine but who knows what may happen or when.

It looks like you may have picked up a PUP, a Possibly Unwanted Program. While they are annoying, they do not cause damage to your system. Some people actually want the 'Features' offered by these programs. They are usually downloaded alongside a legitimate download when you do not uncheck the option for the additional download.
Norton products concentrate on malware that can damage your system, that is why some PUPs are not detected. (credit peterweb)
