Issue abstract: remote norton support thought they had fixed it after the first reboot, but after the second, went back to being non responsive until the internet was turned on.
Detailed description: norton service team.remotely..uninstalled norton, ran registry cleaner to get rid of all norton stuff. installed norton again. First reboot, went back to working properly. on bootup today, same issue. doesnt do this on my other computer. All was working well until norton did an update..april 2026 maybe.

Original post person here..by mucking around, I can get norton to start as how I’d like it..it seems if I open up task manager, then $%&*&^norton might start properly..first I had to tell vpn to open when the internet starts..then stop duck duck go from loading at startup..I hit my norton icon a dozen or so times..no result..then hard stopped this computer..figuring that the program may have told the norton website..oh..something or other. upon restart..task manager, then my norton…has worked a few times now. The big issue was…telling norton to do anything produced nooo result..it sat there dumbly. Why would you pay for something that did that? I’d say I outwitted..whatever it was. some routine. Anyway, alls well that ends. Grrrrr.

I just updated the dektop..i imagine the 2nd tuesday updates, a la microsoft. Desktop norton was fine..UNTIL microsoft update happened. Then, the same behaviour from Norton, so msoft update was the problem. Who is going to blink first? msoft, for causing the whole thing, or norton to get around whatever msoft did. So, recap. turn computer on. turn on task manager. right click norton taskbar icon. select my norton. wait. wait..wait. a Norton screen comes up, totally blank, with spinning doohickey in the middle. then i turn on the internet, my norton loads properly. A rigamarole. totallly unnecessary. i noticed other people have had hassels with updates…sigh.
