I've read the thread help cloning HDD to SSD with NORTON GHOST 15 with interest. I have a similar setup:
Dell XPS 8300 with a 1 TB HDD. I've installed a Samsung 830 SSD and it shows up in BIOS, Disk Management and Norton Ghost.
Here's what I've done so far:
Using Ghost, I copied the HDD Recovery partition to SSD - Copy successful. I then tried to copy the OS (C:) partiion but had errors (see below). Here's what Disk Management says:
HDD (Disk 0)
39 MB Healthy (OEM Partition)
Recovery 13.25 GB NTFS Healthy (System, Active, Primary Partition) - 5.6 GB Free
OS (C:) 918.22 GB NTFS Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition) - 821 GB Free
SSD (Disk 1)
Recovery 13.25 GB NTFS Healthy (Actrive Primary Partition) - 5.6 GB Free
OS 225 GB NTFS Healthy (Primary Partition) - 157 GB Free
I notice that the copied Recovery partition on SSD does not say System, nor does the OS partition have the other descriptors.
Questions:
- What's my next step?
- I'm downloading BootIt BM to install. Looks like I may have to get into that. I've created the BIBM Boot Disk. Do I install to its own partition on HDD when I boot from that CD?
Here are the errors from the copy of OS on HDD to OS on SSD:
Error EC8F17B3: Cannot complete copying of OS (C:\) drive.
Error EC8F0409: Cannot copy source drive to destination location.
Error EBAB03EE: Operating System API 10004 failed.
Error EBAB03F1: The parameter is incorrect. (UMI:V-281-3215-6067)
Looking forward to some help!
