Our original problem was getting club penguin to work. Then we noticed minecraft won't work either. While trying out different workaround, I tried disabling (not uninstalling) our norton stuff, and have tried every norton setting change I could manage. I eventually tried redownloading flash ( i think I got that) and then Java. I get the same error as the user at the beginning of the thread. It shows up on my computer, but according to the Java site tester, it does not appear to be there. So, being a newbie here, my problem fits three threads: Club penguin doesn't work, minecraft doesn't work, and java doesn't appear to work. I have Norton 360 with Norton Online Family.I'm not even sure if we have Norton Safety Minder. Please help if you can, I've wasted waaaay too many hours on this. Thank you!
Actually, since I found the thread, I did notice Norton Safety Minder on the menu. I uninstalled it, and now everything is running fine. I figured I'd reinstall the Safety Minder when the issue was resolved. I am happy to help with any info that might help with that, though. Thanks!
Thanks for the update. You are always welcome to come back to the program.
We are working on the issue. As soon as the issue(s) are resolved, I'll update the thread.
Please let us know what Operating System is running on the PC?
Do you have Java SE 7 installed on the machine? You should be able to check it at Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs if you have Windows XP.
You mentioned "our original problem was getting club penguin to work..." I assume the problem was getting an error message when trying to log onto Club Penguin account. What version of Norton Safety Minder was on the PC when you received the error?
I have finally managed to get online family to update and now my java doesn't work either. After lengthy trouble shooting I uninstalled online family and java now works properly.
Is there a fix for this? I googled and this thread was first in the search results.
