CMD copy and paste stopped working and then after closing IE started to work

CMD copy and paste stopped working. I closed Internet Explorer and re-opened It then started working What could be happening?

What can you tell me about this behavior. Theoretically it should never happen. I recently updated Windows XP Home

with two high priority updates butr they have not yet taken effect until I reboot which I have not yet done.

Yet my copy and paste capability in CMD window stoped and started working mysteriously. Now copy and paste is at the root

of hackers trying to get passwords etc... so I ask you what do you think is happening and what if anything can Norton do to better protect these  resources from prying eyes.

I realize its difficult to protect a mechanism that is shared by all windows applications , however I would really like to be able to know what is happening here.

Windows event tracking is lame as always

I noticed a lot of system errors with the disk:

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\D during a paging operation.

Question does the D in Device\Harddisk1\D indicate the D: logical letter drive has the problem. If so its a DVD disk and I am less concerned

with that disk drive
