I've used my Ghost 15.0 Symantec Recovery Disk to perform cold backups aka one time backups for several
of my PC's without problems but with my Dell Latitude XT2 with an SSD drive (running Windows 7 Pro), the cold backup reaches
75% and then hangs. I've tried three different physical destination hard drives (USB connected) but with the same result.
I've run chkdsk on the source SSD drive and it reports no errors. Interestingly the size the created backup image file appears to be at about 64gb everytime when the backup hangs. Just before the it hangs, the timer indicates about 16 minutes left
to complete but at 75% the timer starts going up instead of down and stays that way i.e. keeps going up for as long as I leave the backup job alone....
I've left the backup running (at the 75% state) overnight, at least 6 hours, but it never finishes. Screen inputs to the SRD menu work and will let me cancel the backup (albeit it takes several minutes or more to come back to the menu once I cancel the backup)....no errors are ever reported. The source drive being backed up os only about 128gb and I'm using the default
backup options including standard compression (no encryption, no changes to the advanced options defaults)
I've gone so far as to create custom SRD for my computer from the original Ghost 15.0 disk and also, to create and SRD from the .iso file from the Norton web site but all behave the same..the backup hangs at 75%
