Comcast issues

I'm not sure where else to post this question, but I got an alert from a Facebook friend regarding a move Comcast made that I was not aware of.  Tell me what you think and how in the world Norton could protect my computer after this.  I'm posting it as a copy from her post so I don't word it incorrectly:

Comcast has decided to corrupt their internet service by messing with a key internet functionality they are totally unqualified to understand, let alone alter. They have decided to hijack ( they call it redirect ) DNS ( Domain Name Services ) and unless you opt out your Internet transactions will be at severe risk. They have a little known opt-out web page

If you do anything of a secure nature on the internet, you do not want this Comcast "feature" active. It is already active now, and will remain active if you do nothing. Banking, Insurance, Credit Card Purchases, VPN tunnels to Work, all of these could be subjected to the classic "man in the middle" attacks, or at a minimum make those attacks much harder to detect/prevent if this new "feature" is allowed to remain active.

I STRONGLY recommend anyone with Comcast Internet Service Opt Out of this Horror Story as soon as possible, and avoid all internet transactions which require any verifiable level of security until you have received the final Opt Out confirmation succeeded email from Comcast ( supposed to be two days after you web submit, then email verify, your Opt Out transaction ).

The email address of your Primary Comcast Internet Service account ( a Secondary account won't work ) and the HFC MAC address from the sticker on the Comcast Cable Modem ( 12 digit hex number ) are required to Opt Out.
