Communicating with Norton Server fix (for me)

I've had Norton 360 installed for over a year and haven't had any troubles with it until about two days ago when I had a message saying a quick scan hadn't been done in 6 days. When I tried to "Fix Now" or any kind of scan it would ask to agree to the Terms, every time I did nothing would come up and the scan failed.

Maybe somewhat prematurely I used the Norton removal tool and the power eraser and planned on reinstalling 360, but everytime I would get to the install it would get stuck on "Communicating with Norton Server" forever, let it sit for 3 hours one time with nothing, tried this several times when that's pretty much what the support pages suggested.

I then got in-touch with support and let them remotely control my PC for about another 4 hours and they repeated the same steps to no avail. I finally gave up and had to go to bed. I get on this morning and try again, same thing. Stuck on Communicating with Norton Server.

Through all of this I noticed "Norton Identity Safe" would still be installed even after using Norton Removal, so this last time I decided to manually go to add/remove programs and remove norton identity safe and repeated this process all over again. Norton Removal, Power Eraser, Redownload and Install 360 and everything went through with no problem and now 360 is back and working on my PC.

I'm not sure why/what/how but it helped me, just figured I'd share.

Thanks
