Compatibility problem installing on Windows Vista

I recently purchased Norton Internet security and tried (several times)  to install it on a Dell laptop running Windows Vista. I received an error message stating it is not compatible with this computer's operating system. However, this computer reports all Windows updates are installed.

I am not much of a computer expert. But can anyone help?

Check that you have Vista Service Pack 1 or 2 installed.  SP1 is a minimum system requirement to install and run Norton.  You should actually be at Service Pack 2, however, since Microsoft no longer supports Service Pack 1.

Thanks. I'd assumed the Service Packs were installed because all updates appeared to have been installed. However, I'll attempt to download the service packs.

Before you try downloading the Service Packs,  Click the Start button and right click Computer,  select Properties.  This should tell you if you have the Service Packs installed.
