I'd like to see an option to make NIS display whether it has seized control of any part of the Windows Mail database (specifically including the parts related to newsgroups), and if so, offer the user a chance to turn off that control until the next time the Windows Mail program stops running.
May not improve compatibility with the newsgroups section of the program enough, but it's at least a step in the right direction.
