Complaint

Thanks. We are both in the UK. No he doesn't have credit monitoring. Norton chat support gave me the number but I dont intend to use it.

Cheers

Do not call that number. Genuine Norton support is free.  You can get the contact information from   www.norton.com/contactcs

Did your son purchase his own subscription? If so, did he get a subscription that includes the Lifelock credit monitoring service?

What market are you and your son in? Different markets have different features. Lifelock monitoring services are not available in all countries.

We haven't had a reply from you but the issue has been sent to the concerned team within Norton.

I did ask whether you had resolved if you wee still paying for two subscriptions and your complaint is just about getting money back.

Under US consumer protection law, you have 60 days to notify a company of a billing error.  How can a company be expected to know if you did or did not need a second subscription 10 years ago?  It is always the consumer's responsibility to check their invoices and report any mistakes promptly.  I wish you luck, but I don't think you have anywhere to go with this, other than a refund for the past 60 days of use.

Sorry to hear your problem which I've notified to a Moderator since we volunteers don't deal with monetary matters. A moderator is Norton Staff -- look for the red badge tag -- and may be able to help you although the forums don't deal with money matters but can help in other ways.

I have been told to communicate my complaint  to Community Norton having failed to  get my issue  sorted through Norton Chat support. I was told there is  no e mail support nor is there a correspondence address for a letter..  My Chat Case number was . In simple terms over a 10 year period I have been paying 2 subscriptions for exactly the same support (although one sub covered 2  now unused devices and both subscriptions  covered my only one device.).

The moderator may be able to make sure the Chat person is correct but as you are now are you still paying two subscriptions or did you at least succeed in disabling one of them?

PrincessP:

Derek,  Did you click on the 'feedback' button at the side of the page.  I have provided my 'feedback' 5 times and no answer.  what else have you tried.

The Feedback on the web page is for your experience on the web site. It is not going to get you any response for your issue. The options at the bottom off the page offer for you to allow Norton to contact you. The wording is that you 'May' be contacted.  So do not anticipate a reply. And again, it would only be regarding the web site.

You can try sending a private message on their facebook page. It seems that they are responding to those messages.

I don't have facebook so can't try that option.

I'm in Australia also and have been overcharged on renewal as well.

It's pointless trying to access online chat or phoning the 1800 number. You never get to actually deal with anybody.

You just wait and wait and wait....

where is the 800680026 number, i am in australia

PrincessP,

Unfortunately, no one on these forums will be able to assist you with this issue.  I know this is not what you were hoping to hear but, you'll have to speak directly with Norton Support to resolve this issue.

The best way to contact Norton Support, given current situation, would be either by telephone (you can try 800-680-026) or if different, the number you may already have.

or

via twitter @NortonSupport on Twitter

Please note, there are no publicly available email address available for support.

Norton does not do support by email any more. Your attempt to phone Norton is one of a few options available. Others are online chat, and Twitter. You can try contacting Norton at different times of day. That may get you reduced wait times during the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Phone and chat can be reached at    www.norton.com/contactcs

Twitter is here.      http://twitter.com/nortonsupport

When you do finally get through, you can ask for a refund of the original renewal payment, and then to purchase Norton 360 Standard that is for one device only.

Hi,

There was no mention of Norton but the password they said they metioned is only used for my Norton account.

Norton has since told me that hacking and a computer virus are totally different and I should contact the FBI.

Go figure

Did the email you received specifically link the password you mention to your Norton Account? If not, and you may have used the same password on multiple web sites, you need to find some Identity Protection service that allows you to do a free 'dark web' scan to see if your email and passwords have been hacked and made available on the dark web.

There are many scams like this out there. See this article.   https://www.businessinsider.com/new-email-scam-uses-old-password-fake-porn-threats-webcam-video-bitcoin-2018-7

Cannot believe that a company like Norton that I depended on for over 20+ years could be so bad at customer service.

This morning I got an email from a scammer saying that my computer had been hacked and demanding $879. I usually would not have bothered with it but the message mentioned my password I have on Norton. Now Norton took over my computer over the last couple of weeks and that is the only way that my password could have been compromised.

Did a live chat with Norton this morning and they refereed me to their dedicated virus removal team, the guy introduced himself as Kevin Francis, I said hi, waited 10 minutes. Asked if anyone was there, waited again, nothing.

I genuinely when my subscriptions run never want to use Norton again and will make it my mission to inform everyone else of their abysmal service.

Hi, It went through the entire install process but it would not open  after it completed.

Each time it was Norton who took over my computer to attempt the install. They removed and reinstalled Intel etc etc, thinking that these were in conflict with NWP all to no avail.

Despite Norton telling me that they would contact me within a few days, they failed to do so.

On return to the UK after a few days again without contact from Norton I contacted them to cancel the NWP and get my money back, it took over two hours on the phone.

Were you just not able to install NWP at all, or were you getting stopped part way through the process? ie Did NWP install and you just could not sign in?

Have you been able to install and use NWP since you returned home?

Hi,

I logged on to my Norton account and started a live chat with them. They took the order for the WiFi Privacy, debited my Amex and it Norton themselves who attempted the install by taking control of my computer for over three hours. I was in Croatia.

Back to your original problem of trying to install Norton Wifi Privacy, NWP. You say you were abroad when you tried to install NWP. What country were you in? It is not available in all countries for different legal reasons. If you were in one of those countries not allowed, that would explain why it would not install.

How did you find the original Norton link? From an internet search, or did you go directly to www.norton.com ? If an internet search, the top few results are rarely genuine Norton, but other companies that offer Norton products and/or support for Norton products and others.

Combine that with your possibly not contacting official Norton Support could explain your feeling you were not treated respectfully.
