Complete failure of NIS 2013

Hi

I purchased a 3-user license version of NIS 2013 last December and had it installed on my PC (XP Home), Laptop & Netbook (both .  The installations were made after a complete removal of previous NIS Versions using the NRT (as is my usual practice).

Yesterday, the copy on my PC failed to update and the auto fix wouldn't work, taking me to the Symantec site and telling me to uninstall and reinstall the product using the NRT.  At this time I checked the "about" information and saw that my copy was version 20.3 whereas it was Version 20.2 on my two other machines. I also noticed that there was no "days to run" information on the opening screen.

I did as was advised and uninstalled/reinstalled the product but the problem persisted.  I then removed it again using the NRT and reinstalled it from the original DVD but even though it installed correctly and accepted the key code, it would not activate and still the error message persisted.

I went to my Norton Account>Manage and saw that it showed three installations on the three machines I own so, in desperation, I deleted the one relating to the PC, leaving me with one installation free.  I then expected to be able to insert my key code again and that it would then activate and everything would be fine, but still I get the same error messages and still it will not activate.

I have been using NIS for more years than I care to remember but have never had so many problems with this software until the 2013 version arrived and it has been nothing but trouble ever since, particularly on my PC running Windows XP Home Edition SP3.

Today, I accessed my Norton Management Account from the Laptop and was surprised to find that all THREE machines were listed and no remaining installs remained despite me having deleted the one relating to the PC.  I have, once again, deleted this machine and currently it now shows one installation remaining for use.

I thought I might now, yet again, uninstall the software from the PC, but without connecting to the internet, and then try to reinstall it again from the DVD and activate it.  Does this seem a sensible way to proceed and is it likely to work this time?

I am also open to any other suggestions as to how I might resolve this issue.
