Did you use the Norton Removal Tool when you uninstalled? If not, I would run the tool and then reinstall and try again.

Hi Johna,

Yes, I did use the norton removal tool to uninstall before reloading. I did it again this afternoon and ran a comprehensive virus scan. It scanned up to 9 thousand and something then the count went back to 10. I could see that it was scanning the files and folders because and the scan ended at a count of 779. I got the impression that the 779 must be 779,000. I can't figure out why it would do that.

Also the backup funcion doesn't work. I get a pop up message......... ERROR "Norton 360 has encountered and internal problem. Would you like to fix it" (8700,108) in a Windows XP Home computer.

I'm running XP Pro and I actually downloaded the instructions that pop up about using msconfig. But it hasn't fixed the problem and I still get the same error message everytime I open the backup function. I've tried backing up to all the options. i.e. C drive, E drive and online storage but it says that it can't connect to that drive. I've uninstallled and reinstalled several times now and nothing seems to get better. Any suggestions?

thanks

al19, can you please download the latest version of N360 from here, then uninstall your current version using the Norton Removal Tool, reinstall with the latest version, then run Live Update SEVERAL TIMES until it says no more updates are available. Restart when prompted and run Live Update again as above.

Let us know, thanks.
