Computer hostages!

Hello! A while ago, I had tried the Norton anti theft and enabled Intel anti theft system and now it has been a while so that the subscription is terminated.

Now I want to disable the Intel anti theft but in order to do that I need a subscription to get into the side and disable it. Feels like my computer is taken hostage and I can not do anything about it.

The reason for disabling it is for me to update my BIOS and in order to do so, it must be disabled.

Hi Francisco92.

Sorry to hear of your problems.

As I have not got a device with Intel anti theft I do not feel competent to answer but note that no one else has responded to your plaintive call.

So I cannot even be sure that it is Norton Anti-Theft that has caused the problem but I will just assume that it is.  I know that Norton would not have wanted it to create this problem for you.

My first reaction is that if any future reader comes across this then they should take the lesson to undo the Intel Anti Theft lock before they give up on Norton Anti Theft.  However in your case this appears, sadly, to be too late.

I was hoping that someone could come in and give you advice on how this can be undone but it appears that no one is doing that.  Under these circumstances then I can only suggest that you try the Norton Chat line.  The staff on that are normally very helpful and they may be able to temporarily reactivate your Norton Anti-Theft (say for a day) so that you can unlock the Intel Anti-Theft.

You can link to Norton Chat here and then and click on "contact us" in the top right hand corner. After that fill in your details, click "get support" and then select "Live Chat" on the right.

I hope that helps.

Good luck.

Hi Francisco92,

Intel Anti-Theft is disabled automatically when Norton anti theft subscription expires. We shall investigate further on why it didn't happen automatically for your device and fix the your device's state. Could you please share your Norton Account email address to help us look into the issue further. Please send me the info via PM.

Thanks,

Triji

Norton live support service has fixed the problem, they took over the computer and check around, from the beginning they could not find the problem. But support gave me a few days to get into the Norton anti-theft site and from there I was able to turn off the Intel anti-theft system.

Now everything works fine and the BIOS update could be done.

Delighted that it all seems to have worked out as both you and Norton would have wanted Francisco92.   :smileyhappy:

All the best for the future.
