Thanks for your help in this matter, I have deceided to cut my losses and update to a new computer.
Great .... Then when you get it and before you install any Norton on it please come back and tell what trial security application comes preinstalled on it ....
Then we can help you deal with that since if it is not identical to your present N 360 then you need to remove it and clean up with special tools we can point you to before you install Norton 360 or you may haave problems with it not working properly.
This is not specific to Norton but applies to any change of security application.
I have done that and my PC is still extremely slow, booting up and starting takes 105 minutes, typing this takes (to this point) before the screen catches up with my typing. I have discussed this with my my local computer guys and they laugh and say buy a new computer and never ever install Norton at all. Norton according to them will always slow down your pc if not freeze the pc for hours.
That's because they are stuck in 2006 or something, when Norton was indeed a slow and clumsily coded application. This is no longer the case. If your computer takes 105 minutes to boot, something is seriously wrong, not Norton-related, but probably hardware-related.
