Computer time changed to 1/31/1969 and said Norton Expired

I tried to sign on to my PC Sunday morning.  My internet was down. I fussed and fussed with the hard line in, the communication between the modem, router and computer. My phone line in had a lot of static.  I could not get my internet back up, or sign in to my 'offline' Norton. Then a pop-up....my date and time were wrong. I looked and 1/31/1969 was the date....(Well no wonder Norton wouldn't sign on.....I didn't have it in 1969). My computer would not let me change it to the current date, so I set it to as high (date-wise) as it would go...12/31/1980...and tried again to connect to the internet. Over my 'search' and 'lets-try-this' time, several different dates popped up on my computer and Windows Defender had to be turned off.  I also had my browser jump from Firefox to Yahoo.  I never use Yahoo. I spent from 8:30am to 5pm messing with this problem. I scan and update my computer  every time I turn on my computer and my computer is shut down when I'm not on it.....So...my questions are these-- Has anyone else had their computer's Time/Date reset? Do I have a Virus/Trojan? Has my computer been hijacked? AND how do I NOT have to waste an entire day trying to contact Norton again? Thank you's to anyone that can help!
