One of my home desktops was infected with the Fake Antivirus Virus and I ran Malwarebytes and it found it and cleaned it (so I thought) but upon a reboot of the computer, the computer freezes right before loading the Windows OS and is left with a blinking cursor. I am able to boot the computer using my Norton Ghost 15 (G15) disc but, I'm not sure how to proceed from there. What I want to do is copy a few folders to CD or to a thunb drive and then wipe the computer and restore to factory default. Can anyone advise me on any of this?
- Does anyone know how to get past the frozen boot up process and complete the boot?
- How do I use G15 to allow me to access the drive and copy critical files before wiping?
- Any other advice with regards to fixing/killing the Fake Antivirus Virus?
