I haven't found this capability in NIS, and could not find it discussed in the forums, but I would like to be able to scan my disk to identify files that contain confidential data (SSN, credit card, etc.). This would allow me to remove, or at least minimize confidential data that a virus might obtain, especially if the scanner used the same kinds of algorithms that the viruses are using. It might also help verify the safety of encrypted data. It would not need to be a real-time scan, but could be "on demand" or scheduled. Ideally, it would be able to scan and identify individual e-mails.
