Configuring background tasks

Hi all,

I came back to my PC a few minutes ago to find that Norton had done some admin.  In checking what had been done, I eventually got to the Settings page, then Administrative settings.  I noticed that only Internet Explorer had been cleaned up and, after finding a closed thread on the subject, activated FF clean up as well.

This led to a new issue.  When I click on "Configure" Background Tasks, I get a page with a list of such and their status, eg when last run.  There doesn't appear to be an option to actually change anything; clicking on a line merely forces operation of that function.  What am I missing?

My main concern, though, is to ensure that defragging isn't done as routine, as I have a SSD hard disk and am advised they don't appreciate being defragged (I'd love to know why, but that's another story).  Disk Optimisation appears to be a function that involves defragging but I can't see where I can disable that or otherwise manage it.

No doubt I'm missing something obvious, but I would appreciate assistance on this.

Thanks,

Ian
