Recently after updating Norton after coming back from holiday the computer on next restart paused while booting into windows for about 30 seconds. I put a Acronis image on the computer that was done the month before and done a couple of restarts without a problem. I updated Norton again which then caused the problem again. I then uninstalled Norton and ran the Norton removal tool and the computer would boot fine. Again after installing Norton and running updates the computer paused again. I then used the Norton live chat support. The person logged into the computer, typed in msconfig and disabled all startup programs and all system programs including Microsoft processes. They restarted the computer and the computer did start fine and that was it, they thought there job was done. I was surprised that Norton support would leave the computer partly disabled now not running all processors and none of my start-up programs. Windows then started wanting to send error reports so I went back in and turned on Microsoft services. The computer still started fine with the Microsoft services on. I then started the process on turning on over non-Microsoft services and start-up programs. The problem was with TeamViewer and Norton. After the latest update there is a conflict with TeamViewer and Norton 360 with Windows 7. Now that I have disabled TeamViewer that computer started fine. An extra 30 seconds may not seem much but with running a SSD drive with a 30 second boot time, doubled the boot time of the computer. Norton, please fix your conflict issue with TeamViewer. Also I think that it is worth highlighting that a senior support team member from Norton in a customers computer turning off a users start-up and systems programs and thinking that is a fix is not helpful, as it does cause many other problems. It did help with showing that the system will start fine with all turned off, however I can understand when people contact customer support that they could end up with more problems than before they started.
