Conflicts with Norton A/V 2011 and Diskeeper 2010

Has anyone run into problems starting Diskeeper with Norton A/V installed? Everytime I want to start Diskeeper it won't start. I understand Norton has a defragger included. Is there a way I can disable Norton's defragger?

Hello zach

According to the product description, there is no optomizer or defragger in NAV 2011 as can be seen in the product description of NAV 2011,  You can't disable a function that dosn't exist in NAV 2011.

From what I have read about this program, it also runs all the time. There may be some internal conflicts with NAV 2011. Both programs want to do their thing at the same time. It's hard to scan a file when Diskeeper is trying to move the file.

I will contact Diskeeper and see what they suggest. I will post back once I find a solution.

Since I probably wouldn't hear from Diskeeper until Monday. I took a chance and under application ratings I added dkservice.exe to be user trusted and so far everytime I click on diskeeper it starts. I guess trusting Diskeeper made the difference.

Thanks for posting what worked for you ... good to know and might apply to problems with other apps ... tin

Hello zach

Please make sure and keep an eye on your NAV as that is a more important program to have it functioining and being effective than moving files around all the time. Diskkeeper may be starting up when you want it to, but is it allowing NAV to function correctly and efficiently? Thanks.

I have been using Diskeeper with NIS 2010 and NIS 2011 with no issues for over a year.

Diskeeper should be find alongside NAV.

The only potential issue would be if defrag were running at the exact same time as NAV is running a scan and this should be easy to control to ensure that does not happen.

Best wishes.

Allen

Actually I have Diskeeper disabled . It's disabled because of Rollback RX. I turn it on when I want to do a defrag after uninstalling Rollback. But I do check on it every once in a while like I did Yesterday. That's how I found out it wouldn't start.

Thank You Everyone for your input.

Norton Antivirus 2011 does indeed have the "optimizer" defrag.

You will need to turn it off or the 2 defrag programs will be battling each other and moving stuff back and forth.

It has been turned off.   Now I need to find out if my snapshots are still good.

Horizon DataSys support  says Rollback is compatible with Norton A/V 2011   Still waiting to hear from Diskeeper.
