I've gotten this error message 6 times since updating to NIS 2013:
Norton Internet Security
20.1.1.2
Error: 8504, 104
Windows 7 Ultimate
7601.17835.amd64fre.win7sp1_gdr.120503-2030
Norton Autofix Results: 1 item(s)
Installation :: Success
When I click the Get Support button I get taken to a page that tells me "Your Norton product has found an error and reinstalling usually fixes the issue. We suggest you reinstall your product." Of course, had I known that the first time I did what it said my Identity Safe would get moved to the cloud, I would never have reinstalled it. Norton/Symantec should have notified all previous users about this unpublicized fact. NIS 2012 NEVER had the problems that 2013 has. As it is, I was unaware that NIS wasn't even working because the lack of the Windows desktop gadget. There was no notification whatsoever that the Symantec Framework had stopped working. The only way I found out was due to Chrome not closing properly so I had to open Task Manager and realized that ccSvcHst.exe wasn't running. Then I saw that the system tray icon was still there with it's green circle and checkmark until I moved the mouse over it. Then it disappeared without explanation. I rebooted the system and got the error above which still makes no sense to me with regards to the Installation:: Success line.
IMHO I think NIS has taken a serious dive into the deep end of a waterless pool.
