Hi,
I'm running NIS 17.7.0.12 on a new Win 7 machine. We've got viruses, trojans and tracking cookies that reappear even when the computer isn't connected to the Internet. Nor are any disks or ROM drives read.
Initially the problem appeared in some old email files that we had transferred from a Norton-protected computer using Dynex. The first scan of the new computer said there were 26 trojans in the files. It took two or three scans to get rid of those viruses. First pass they were all gone except one, a Lodear.D . Norton said it couldn't remove that. Second pass, 12 were there and removed, including the LodearD. We did delete the old mail file that Norton said contained the virus. (Fortunately we really didn't need it.)
When they were all gone, the machine was off overnight and not connected to the Internet. We turned it on without Internet connection this morning and scanned and two tracking cookies were there.
I don't know if there's something internal to the computer (or to the Norton program) that creates tracking cookies, or if Norton is giving false positives.
Advice always appreciated.
