Copy Disk (Clone), Laptop to External via USB.

Looks like the main text did not get posted (looks likes a problem with Google Spell Check)

I have just installed a new 750GB disk in My Dell D830 and installed Windows 7 as will as essential programs.

I want to clone it so that I may have bootable recovery disk (identical as of the day it was copied).
I will be using it for periodic backup of User folders.
Except for updates and future software installation the 2nd disk should always be up-to-date and ready to go.

I copied the internal disk to an external (identical) 2nd disk using Ghost 15.
I ticked the "Copy MBR" (master boot record) and nothing else.
All data copied, but When verifying the 2nd disk by installing it in the laptop, the disk is not bootable.

Next step is to tick "Set drive active (for booting OS)", however, the way I read the User Guide it looks as if the 2nd then will become the boot disk, as an external one, which is not what I want.

As said I simply want to clone the internal disk and create a second ready to go.

Is it safe to tick "Set drive active (for booting OS)" without changing the boot location?
