No matter how well programmed, every security application will slow down a PC. If it doesn't, it does no checking. That's my logic :-)
I would like more options to configure scanning behavior during file operations. (on access)
Isn't the only way for a virus to become active if a file is opened/run?
If so it would be nice if Norton/Symantec security products don't do any scanning/checking while copying, moving, renaming, deleting, downloading, etc.
But for example also don't scan when another program, say WinZip, handles a file while not actually starting it.
I know Norton/Symantec products keep a list of already scanned files to reduce the need of scanning; but even checking that list is "wasting" resources.
