Hello all, I'm new to this forum and I've used ghost for some years once in a while. My HP laptop was recently stolen. I know I lost some valuable data but I was very happy I took the precaution to make a ghost image of it a few months back but I can't remember which version I used.
I made the image (1 GHO and 30 ghs) on a WD passport fat32 external unit and it went smoothly with no error at all. I made another image recently (1 GHO and 7 ghs) for someone else's pc on the same unit, again I can't say with what ghost version. I am now trying to restore files from my image on my new win7 laptop but it is not working. With ghost explorer (8.0, 2003 and 11.5) and also from a dos recovery disk, I get the same message: F:\14mars2010.GHO is not a Norton Ghost File. Or is not the correct span segment. Task cannot be completed. I can open the second image without difficulty.
Is there any way to determine with what version my image was created? One funny thing I noticed in the dos recovery window, the 2 images don't show on my drive with the same icon. The problematic image GHO file shows up with the icon of a ghs file. What is wrong with this image? I did not rename any of those files. The image was done on the drive and was never moved. I checked the drive for errors already.
Can anyone help me, I am kind of desperate to recover my files. Thank you.
